After completing two renovation projects for Fairmount, PRC was asked to provide the Board of Directors an overview of bid versus design/build project delivery methods. Fairmount had a longstanding relationship with an architect, and PRC was selected to partner with the team to work through the preconstruction process. The Fairmount Board had reservations about constructing a stick frame building due to longevity and resident perception. PRC provided a structural cost analysis between wood frame versus structural steel and precast plank building methods. At the conclusion of the analysis and weighing the pros and cons, Fairmount elected to change the building structure to structural steel and plank.
